Welcome to my professional e‑portfolio
About Me
My name is Lindsay Rosien (she/her) and I am a Registered Nurse working in Public health in the province of Ontario. I have been a registered nurse for 20 years and I work at York Region Public Health as the manager of the sexual health clinics program. I feel blessed each day as I truly love my work and find immense professional satisfaction in working to provide high quailty and inclusive sexual health services to residents of York Region.
I am currently enrolled in the Athabasca University’s Masters of Health Studies (MHS) program and am embarking on creation of this e-portfolio as part of this journey. I am approaching the halfway point!
A note on my positionality:
I am a 6th generation Canadian and my family is a mostly a mix of English and Scottish descent. I am a cis-gender woman and I am the first in my immediate family to have completed a post-secondary degree or diploma. I reside currently as a settler on the traditional territory of many Indigenous peoples including the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Huron-Wendat and Métis peoples and the treaty territories of the Haudenosaunee, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and Williams Treaties First Nations.
I must admit that despite being 45 years of age and having been a nurse for over 20 years, the concept of positionality is a relatively new one for me. Only in the past few years of nursing practice and existence have I started to truly be critically reflective of my positionality and how that has shaped my nursing practice and my experiences as a human being on this planet. I recognize now that I have much privilege that was invisible to me in past decades – it was not something I thought a lot about. I strive to continue to learn more about positionality and how to dismantle the systems of inequality that we all live within.
On a more personal note, I live in a rural area north of Toronto with my husband and our 2 dogs. I enjoy golfing and spending time at our family cottage in the summer and curling.
